In the framework of the annual congress of the European Society of Cardiology (Barcelona, Friday 26 – Monday 29 August), a dedicated session on CORE-MD was organised. Three active partners in CORE-MD discussed about clinical trials for medical device and presented its benefits for regulators.

Prof. Piotr Szymanski (Chairman of the EU Regulatory Affairs Committee board of the ESC.), Prof. Stephan James (Scientific Documents Committee Chair) and Prof. Robert Byrne (Chair of Cardiovascular Research at the Royal College of Surgeons and Director of Cardiology at the Mater Private Hospital, Dublin) discussed the issue of clinical trial for medical devices taking into consideration the past, the present and the future.

All three medical specialists are actively involved in CORE-MD as work package and task leader or member of CORE-MD Steering Committee.
